For our Laser cutting project, we decided to use an inspiration from an old tradition of Chinese Paper cutting. These technique originated from ancient activities of worshiping the ancestor and the gods. Now these are use as decorations for walls, windows, doors and more and symmetrical design is a sign of good luck and express peoples wishes. We also plan to bring out a more modern design, but also using a paper cutting design to create a shape to make it appear it is about to come off the fabric.
For the Lazor cutting exercise would like to use two of my own designs from my senior collection. I have actually planned on trying to sample these designs back when we were working on our senior collections. Now I would like to test them so that way I can see if they work in the fabric I have chosen and so that I may be able to make more looks from my collection. The first being a Cameo of my own design. Some things may have to be changed otherwise it will not work right with the cutter. The second design is much more simple. The inspiration came from a doily in which the design on the edges were cut out to create a pattern. This I hope to use in a shirt or a dress. The fabric I plan on using for the final is a soft while pleather which it's contents contain 60% Polyester and 40% Polyurethane.
